I have a 2000 ford focus. When I tried to start the car the other day, my key would not go into the ignition. It was almost as if it was the wrong key! My husband and I messed with it for quite some time and it never went in. More than likely, we will have to get it towed to the car shop. Will insurance pay for any of this since it had nothing to do with being in an accident?

My cousin recently hit a car by accident and caused body damage to the quarter panel of his neighbor’s car. Now, his neighbor wants to take it to a car shop and get it fixed for $700 but my cousin’s friend, who owns his own shop, can fix it for $650. The problem is his neighbor wants to take it to the $700 shop and is asking my cousin to pay for it - Keep in mind that both parties didn’t report the accident to their insurance company and no police report was written- but my cousin thinks they’re ripping him off soo my question is if my cousin has a right to get the car fixed to any shop he wants because he’s the one paying for the damage or does the neighbor have the right to pick the shop because it was their car that was hit.

Hi, my question says all of it for the most part. If the number of credit checks in the past sixth month can negatively affect my credit rating, what if I’m shopping for car insurance and i’m getting quotes left and right? All insurance companies are checking my credit report when they run my quote. Wouldn’t that be unfair if that lowers my credit score?
Thanks!

My husband hit a deer in a car we have no loan on. We want to fix it ourselves but we had an appraisal done for the insurance company. They are telling us the check will be written in both our names and the body shop’s name. Do they have a legal right to force us to go to the body shop for the repairs when there is no lein holder on the vehicle? We can do it ourselves for alot less and keep the difference. Or can we just ask them fot the check to be written to just us, and do they have to comply?

I got my car hit and the person that hit my car insurance company( state farm) is going to pay for it. I got an estimate and turned it in. But when I went to the local store that I always go to a cashier I know saw the damage and asked how much state farm was going to pay. I told him and he said if I take it to one on his friend repair shop the car will get repaired plus the paint the entire vehicle for that estimate price. The check will be written to me but will I get in trouble if I take the cashier deal? It sounds like a good deal-getting it repaired plus the whole car painted

Because of the bad snowy weather we been having, I recently lower my car deductible from $1000 to $250 . My car just sliped today and hit a curve. I took it to have it checked, and the shop told me it would be around $3000 to get the car fix. Would my insurance company think that i lower my deductible after the incident happened? Would they cover the damage? Should i wait before trying to file the claim?

I am currently driving my dad’s car and I am covered under his car insurance. If I go car shopping, do I need to bring him with me or have him buy the car in his name in order for it to be covered under his insurance? Or can I just buy it myself and still be covered?
