I have progressive insurance and recently got into an accident. It was my fault, thankfully everyone was okay. Anyway I was wondering how anyone’s claim process went. The progressive agent handeling my claim is nice and she called me the day i filed the claim, she asked me where I was going to get my car fixed and I told her. She said that the place I was getting it fixed was on their list of reapir shops and called them on three way to set up an appointment. What I want to know is , will they write a check to me or the repair shop? How did it work with you?

New car, had a nasty accident and the Insurance company selected a body repair shop, accepted the shop since I don’t want to go to the hastle of selecting one, and Its being repaired. I’m taking the car after the repair now. I’m worried becasue they might not use genuine parts and I might loose my warranty. I have no clue in body repairs and this is my first time going through it.
1) What things should I consider when I’m taking the car from the body shop?
2) Do I still have the right to ask for repairs if the car is not functional after a week or so?
Please let me know if there is anything else I need to take care of.

I am purchasing a new car and for the first time car insurance. I’ve been shopping around online and Progressive Direct has the best rates for me. I also looked at getting Progressive through an insurance group in my area, which would cost $30 more per month for the same amount of coverage. Would it be worth the extra $30 per month to get the insurance through an insurance agency in my area?

Years ago, my wife’s car door was hit by another car. This being the first accident, neither of us were sure as to our options.

The police onsite said, since the car’s driveable and it was just the rear door that a Police report is optional. It would also automatically become part of a DMV record. And, they wanted to tend to other police matters.

Is this bad? Wouldn’t a report always be needed for the insurance, even if settling between drivers? Or, is it better to avoid a formal report because insurance companies look for any excuse to raise rates? Can a formal report be done afterwards, if settling falls through?

A friend of ours said he’s a licensed for auto body repair (can’t remember, exactly) and can help us in the cost. When attempting to speak to the insurance agent (really cold person) he cut me off to stammer only qualified body shops are allowed to work on the car. Doesn’t the insured person have the option to choose another shop not on the list? CONFUSING

When you ask for a new car insurance quote from your current or a new provider they always ask the question if you have been involved in an accident or have been pulled over recently etc, etc. My question is, do they already know this info and are they maybe testing me or do they really don’t know? I’ve had two moving violations within the past 5 years and I’m wondering how to answer these questions when I shop for insurance on a new vehicle.

My first question is, if your car is hit and the other insurance company admits fault - aren’t they supposed to come meet YOU to assess damages?

Secondly, is an insurance company allowed to deny you whats owed after already admitting fault and after already getting an estimate from a body shop?

How do I prevent them from low balling me?

i was driving a dodge 2500 on the highway when there was a sudden stoppage of cars in front of me, this was normal and i hit the brakes hard, they slowed me down to 10 mph but suddenly gave up stopping? i hit a mercedes in front of me and i cant afford to just pay the person for the damages to their car so i have to go through insurance. They said the accident is my fualt , even with the brake failure. Is this right?

I have the truck in the shop getting looked at right now so i can have a statement for my insurance company.

There is deffinatly something wrong with the brakes becuase now the pedal is very soft and i cannot lock the wheels or get them close to locking.
I took the car to the mechanic and he found a faulty master cylinder, he said it has likely failed just previous to the accident as it has not leaked much fluid at all.
and to my fortune, the cop saw the accident, and said i was following at about 10-14 car lengths.
idk about you but thats pretty far to not be able to stop

About 1.5 yrs back my wife scratched another car while parking. The claim was settled using insurance. The expense was about $1500. Ever since that the insurance company, AAA, has been increasing our premiums by abt $35 on every renewal. Now I cannot switch or shop with other insurance company since they give quotes much higher than this company. But apart from this one incident we do not have anything else on our record. Also I get discount for Home+Auto insurance. The company increased prices on our Home Insurance too. I am badly stuck with this company now. I would like to buy Auto+home from one company itself. But I really cannot move my Auto Insurance. Please give suggestions.
